WOLVERINE

One of our favorite past times—namely, stomping around in big, clunky boots—just got a little bit more sophisticated. Wolverine, the century-old work wear brand marked by its tradition of comfy, durable footwear, will unveil four new collections of luxury work boots this August. “The ideals and practices of Wolverine as a brand remain the same since its inception,” says Roger Huard, Vice President of Product Development. “Creating a collection of footwear that pays homage to our beginnings is an exciting opportunity to grow as a brand.” Their signature “1000 Mile Boot,” a simple ankle-high lace up in soft leather, serves as the cornerstone of all four groups—which include the slightly dressier “Gentleman,” the military “Garrison,” and the rough-and-tumble “Gentry” in addition to the primary 1000 Mile design. Each are meticulous reproductions of historic Wolverine originals, which made their market debut over a hundred years ago with the emergence of a working class demanding form as well as function. The result is a fabulously practical, utterly timeless collection of boots that will—without doubt—become our go-to footwear this fall. Good thing we know-a-guy who knows-a-guy in midtown that can resole whatever you throw at him–we plan to wear these babies ’til we’re as leathery as they are.
